Chiropractic care focuses on the relationship between the spine, nervous system, and overall body function. Our goal is to restore movement and function which allows the nervous system work as efficiently and your body to heal as it was supposed to.
Chiropractors commonly help with:
• Low back and neck pain
• Headaches and migraines
• Shoulder, hip, and joint pain
• Sciatica and nerve pain
• Sports and work-related injuries
• Postural strain and stiffness
• Poor sleep and energy levels
• Plus much more….!
We also see many patients who want to move better, perform better, or prevent future issues even before they have any signs or symptoms
No. You don’t need a referral to see a chiropractor. You can book directly with us at any time.
Yes, absolutely. Chiropractic care is considered safe when performed by a qualified and registered chiropractor. We take a thorough history, assess your spine and nervous system carefully, and tailor a care plan specifically to you. If chiropractic isn’t appropriate, we’ll refer you to the right healthcare provider.
All of our chiropractors have completed rigorous training at the New Zealand College of Chiropractic in Auckland which is a minimum 5 year course, and many of our team members have done extensive undergraduate studies and post graduate studies in other areas of health and patient management. All of our chiropractors are registered with the NZ Chiropractic Board and members of the NZ Chiropractic association.
Your first visit includes:
• A detailed health questionnaire must be completed before your consultation – this will be sent via email and SMS the day before your appointment, or you can fill in on paper at our clinic if easier
• Thorough health history with the chiropractor
• Orthopaedic and neurological assessment
• Movement and posture evaluation with our VALD HumanTrak 3D movement analysis program
• X-rays taken or a referral competed if they are clinically needed
If appropriate, chiropractic adjustments may begin on the first visit. There’s always time for questions.
Most patients find chiropractic care comfortable, relieving and elevating. As with all manual therapies and depending on your condition and underlying health challenges, some may experience mild soreness after your adjustment, similar to what you might feel after going for a run or to the gym. This usually settles within 24–48 hours and your chiropractor will outline what to expect.
We are primarily a manual based practice using diversified technique with parts of Gonstead and ABC techniques. However, we know that every human and spine is different and often use lower force techniques like activator, drop table, SOT, Thompson technique and soft tissue therapy when needed.
That depends on your situation, your goals and how your body responds. The objective in the initial consultation is to determine how we can help you and recommend a plan that best suits your needs and goals.
Some people feel relief quickly, while others with longer-standing issues may need a short course of care. We’ll discuss a plan with you — no surprises or pressure.
All of our chiropractors are ACC-registered providers in New Zealand. If you qualify for ACC under it’s regulations, you could be eligible for subsidised care. Please talk to our front desk team for more information.
Yes. Chiropractic care can be safely modified for pregnancy. Many pregnant patients seek care for back pain, pelvic discomfort, and postural changes, allowing your body to be in the best possible condition for delivery and recovery
Yes, most definitely. Chiropractic care for children is not only safe but is extremely beneficial. We adapt our approach and use age-appropriate techniques to best suit the child. The birth process can be not only hard on Mum, but also the baby. Some key things to look out for are if they are not turning their head both ways, having trouble latching/feeding, periods of unsettledness and not reaching their developmental milestones as expected. Parents often bring toddlers and older children in for general knocks and falls, posture, movement concerns and neurological, behavioural and emotional challenges.
All of our chiropractors are trained and qualified to take x-rays if needed. X-rays are not routine and are only taken if clinically necessary. They can be an important tool in determining how we manage your care moving forward. We have x-rays onsite at our Invercargill clinic, or if you prefer using another provider we can arrange referral for this.
Comfortable clothing is best. You don’t need to get undressed, but removing out layers, jackets, belts, shoes and heavy jewellery will make checking your spine easier for your chiropractor. In some instances when we take x-rays, we will provide a medical gown to get changed in to.
Initial consultations are usually 30 to 40 minutes to allow for assessment and discussion. Follow-up visits are typically shorter 10 minute appointments and focused on treatment and progress
Yes, we believe a team effort among a wide range of health professionals is important for great results. We regularly work alongside GPs, other allied health professions, personal trainers, massage therapists and specialists to ensure you get the best care for your situation.
